This one-hour documentary produced for The History Channel revolves around the question of whether Judas betrayed Jesus because he hated him or because he loved him. Some say Jesus trusted Judas as the only one to handle the necessary mission of betraying him to those who would kill him and effect the salvation of humankind.

Judas Iscariot, commonly identified as the twelfth apostle who eventually betrayed Jesus, is still an enigma to most people. In five acts, the "Judas" documentary sheds light on this tragic Biblical figure by investigating the history of his call to discipleship, his mission during Jesus' ministry, his betrayal of Jesus and his own death by suicide. Judas' legacy is also examined through the numerous artistic, theological, scholastic and psychological interpretations and paradoxical images of this disciple.

This documentary also analyzes the provocative view by some experts that Judas may have just been following Jesus' will and did not betray Him in the true sense of the word.

"Judas" was written and produced by Nancy Gimbrone for PAULIST PRODUCTIONS. Lia Dosik served as Associate Producer. Silvia Gambardella was Supervising Producer. Company President Fr. Frank Desiderio, C.S.P. was Executive Producer.
